Life without Pre-Theologians

In writing about the deacons, I neglected to mention that Pre-Theology II is also gone for the month. They are dispersed among the various parishes of this archdiocese or their home dioceses learning the ins and outs of parish living. While they have no liturgical duties here at the seminary, their absence is felt in other ways. Their wing of the dorm is almost empty, and is certainly quieter. Dinner conversation lags without them, as those of us still here have been talking all day. We begin to run out of things to say.

The chapel seems empty. While Theology III leads prayer, there are very few people to actually lead. It is sort of like cows going to water. There is one in front, but they all know where they are going. Likewise, the leader of prayer is almost like a song leader without more people to lead.

So, I am looking forward to the return of these men. They are a blessing to our community.
