On my way back from Vespers and Mass this evening I noticed the lights on in the Holy Father's apartment. So I decided to stop for moment and take a photo. I also took one of the Basilica.
The Holy Father's light is often on into the evening, and when I am able to see it early in the morning, it is on again. In a way, it makes one connect on a personal level with the Vicar of Christ, to know that he is right up there in that room. Most or all of the times it is on, he is surely busy with his tasks at the helm of the Church. In some profound way this light is a real witness to the dedication of a "simple and humble worker in the Lord's vineyard," as he said on the day of his election. "Viva Il Papa!"
Here is something of the greatness of the Basilica on a dreary and rainy evening.
